Med Success UK offers targeted, expert-led support for every stage of the IMG journey. From PLAB prep to specialty training, our programmes include free webinars, weekend courses, small group workshops, and 1:1 mentorship. Each session is practical, focused, and designed to help you succeed in the NHS.
Our instructors are NHS-based doctors with deep experience in IMG education. Led by the founder, Dr. Aleem Ahmed, our team has delivered over 50 courses and mentored hundreds of IMG doctors. They bring real-world insights, expert guidance, and a genuine passion for your success.
Consultant in Infectious Diseases and General Medicine | MBChB, BSc Hons MRCP DTMH IDHA MSc | Med Success UK Founder
Dr Aleem Ahmed is a current Infectious Diseases and General Medicine Consultant based in a large University Teaching Hospital in the UK. He is also the Training Programme Director for Infectious Diseases and the Clinical Tutor responsible for Locally Employed (LED) and Clinical Fellowship Programme (CFP) doctors working in University Hospitals of Leicester. Within this role he is the Education Lead for 500+ IMG doctors who work within LED/CFP posts. Dr Ahmed has been formally involved in IMG Educational initiatives since 2018 and completed a Masters in Medical Education in 2022.
Dr Ahmed has also been in Honorary posts in both University of Glasgow and the University of Leicester during his career. He has a passion for Humanitarian work having completed both the International Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance in Fordham University, New York and the Diploma in Tropical Medicine in the University of Glasgow. He has put both into practice doing voluntary work with Syrian refugees in Lesvos and is involved in with many initiatives to teach refugee medical professionals.
Sernior Paediatrics Trainee | MBBS MRCPCH | Med Success UK Course Tutor
Dr Mahreen Sohail is a senior paediatrics registrar based in the UK, with a specialist interest in global child health and developmental paediatrics. As an international medical graduate herself, Dr Sohail is deeply committed to supporting the integration and professional development of IMGs within the NHS.
Drawing on her upbringing across Malaysia and Saudi Arabia along with her medical training in India, she brings a valuable multicultural perspective to her work. She is actively involved in regional initiatives to improve IMG support and is passionate about promoting inclusivity within the medical workforce. Her contributions extend beyond teaching - she has co-authored a handbook for IMGs in the UK, available on Amazon, and has presented her work on IMG support at national forums and conferences.
Dr Sohail is the lead course designer and tutor for the IMG Course, where she delivers structured teaching and provides mentorship to fellow IMGs. Through her educational and advocacy work, Dr Sohail aims to empower international doctors to navigate UK medical training with confidence, ensuring they feel supported and equipped to thrive.
Senior Specialist Registrar | MBChB MRCP MSc | Med Success UK Course Tutor
Dr Farooq is a Specialist Registrar and early clinical academic in Infectious Diseases, Virology, and Tropical Medicine. He holds a Master's in Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and have a special interest in blood-borne viruses, emerging infections, and global health.
His academic and clinical work is driven by a commitment to improving outcomes in high-burden and under-served settings, particularly through operational research and the evaluation of novel diagnostics and therapeutics.
He has extensive experience in humanitarian and global health medicine, including work in Lesvos, Greece during the Syrian refugee crisis in 2016, and currently serves as the Infection Coordinator for the NGO INTERYem.
Alongside his clinical and research responsibilities, Dr Farooq is actively involved in teaching and mentoring both UK-trained and International Medical Graduates. As the son and sibling of IMGs, he has seen first-hand the unique challenges faced by international colleagues; from navigating unfamiliar healthcare systems to overcoming professional and cultural barriers. This personal connection underpins his deep commitment to supporting IMG training and development.
